Travelling and Discovering your background: Everything about DNA Testing

Have you ever wondered which are your origins? You probably know where your grandparents or great-grandparents were from but what about beyond that? Can you actually trace back many generations? The answer is simply YES. With today's technology, you can discover some astonishing stuff about your genealogical background, and everything is done by specialized companies that deal only with such things.

There are many companies that can help you discover some interesting stuff about your heritage and even about your actual health by showing you which are the diseases you might be exposed to according to your DNA but only some of them can really deliver you some complete and accurate results. I did a bit of research and I managed to make a top 3 selection of the companies which I think can deliver accurate and on-point results regarding my DNA background.

I’m happy to announce that I will be reviewing some of the top DNA companies from all over the world that offer DNA testing services. Based on the results that I will get, I will also plan my next travelling adventures to discover the places where my origins began. Here are the most popular DNA companies that I will be reviewing in the following weeks:

  • MyHeritage – is an Israeli company developed in 2003 where users of the platform can create family trees, upload and browse through photos, and search through over 12.5 billion historical records, among other features. In 2016, it launched a genetic testing service called MyHeritage DNA. The company is headquartered in Or Yehuda, Israel with additional offices in Tel Aviv, Israel, Lehi, Utah, Kyiv, Ukraine, and Burbank, California.
  • Living DNA – is a UK-based company that specializes in DNA testing and analysis. They have facilities labs in the USA and Denmark. They aim to provide deep ancestry details from all around the world, using a unique process of analysis and using linked DNA.
  • TellMeGen – is a Spanish biotech company that has a database of thousands of individuals belonging to 74 ethnic groups spread across 8 broad geographical areas: Europe; the Caucasus and Central Asia; North Africa; Middle East; Sub-Saharan African; South Asia; East Asia; Oceania and America. They also help you to discover your genetic predisposition to develop over 100 diseases with the help of the DNA sample that you will send them.

I’m currently sending my DNA samples to all of these three companies and as soon as I get my results, I will publish full reviews and how my overall experience with them was. I’m really curious to see key differences and also how accurate their results are. What I know so far is that from my mother’s side, my origins are traced somewhere in northern Transylvania (oh hey, Dracula) while my Dad’s origins are a bit of a mystery since he disappeared from my life many years ago, this is why I’m expecting all kinds of surprises coming from his side. Have you ever done a DNA test? Would you be interested in learning about your past? Let’s do this! 🙂

Growing up in a small city, I never thought I would get the chance to travel the world, yet dreams can always come true. You just need to be dedicated, passionate, and always eager to try new things and never step away from being yourself.
