A few months ago, I would have never thought that I’d be moving to a new country, in the middle of a pandemic, and more exactly, to a country where miss Rona had no mercy after September 2020. It was a scary feeling but I trusted my gut and went for it.
Thankfully, I moved right before things started to get worse and I managed to secure rent in a beautiful house situated in the 8th district of Prague, on a hilly place, a bit far from the overcrowded city center. I feel great here and it feels amazing to have a back yard during a pandemic, to be able to go outside daily and to freshen up your thoughts. Sadly I didn’t have the same luxury in Vienna, but I’m thankful I managed to pull things through this time.

My beautiful house is situated on top of a hill (I like to call it a mountain, given the effort that I have to put in every time I come from the supermarket, carrying lots of shopping bags and wondering why the hell I had to move on a hill). There’s a lot of nature around, wild animals and a quietness that I didn’t experience since living at my grandmother’s house, in the north of Romania. My favorite thing to do here is walking around and exploring the breathtaking views that this ‘mountain’ has to offer. My favorite view is a hidden place where you can see the entire city, especially during the night when all lights are on.

It’s been almost 2 months since I moved to Prague, yet it feels like I’ve been living here for many years. Probably my biggest weakness is that I fall in love with places way too quickly, but as for now, I still miss Vienna and I can’t stop thinking about all the beautiful memories that I’ve made there during the past year.
I’m looking forward to write more about Prague and life here, but let’s see what 2021 brings along, hopefully better news that what we’re getting lately.
I am sure you will find Prague very welcoming, as have heard a lot of good things from everyone where Prague is concerned. Enjoy your stay.
The trail towards your home is beautiful. I am sure you enjoy the beauty of the surroundings even if it like ‘climbing a mountain’ on your way from the supermarket.
I have heard lot of good things about Prague. SO, it is certainly going to be a great stay for you. On a separate note, I must appreciate that you took the plunge and moved to this new place when things were not looking so great around us.
All the best on your adventure.
Thanks, Jayati! 🙂
It’s so nice that you live surrounded by such beautiful and peaceful nature! I’m a bit jelly 🙂
I have heard so many great things about Prague, I’m glad to hear that you are enjoying your time there. Even though there’s a pandemic, it’s great that you’re having fun and making the best of it.
It sure looks amazing. Especially in fall. You’ll soon make memories there and you’ll fall in love once again. Good luck.
I love to live in such a secluded place, amidst nature and wildlife! Prague is one of the most gorgeous cities and close to my heart for many reasons and I would love to visit it again in the future!
Hey Florin. My boyfriend is Czech, and I was living there this year too. I actually just left in September! Don’t worry about the situation now, the rest of us in Europe are closed to some extent. And when lockdown is over you get to explore more of the beautiful country! Have you been to Cesky Krumlov yet? Also if you go back to Brno, Mikuov and Znojmo are two nice places as well.
Hi Jacqueline, no, I haven’t been to Cesky Krumlov yet but thank you very much for suggesting me this place, I will definitely explore it once we reach a bit of normality. 🙂
what a crazy time to move – but glad things worked out and you’re safe! hopefully you get to travel around your new city soon
Prague is a lovely city as I have visited a few times. I like the path that leads to your house and the fact that you have a secret spot to admire the city light from far above sounds so special and magical. Although, generally they say the pandemic is not the time to move country but I’m glad things are working out for you in Prague. I am sure you will feel very happy in your new city. Wish you all of the very best.
Hey I bad want to see your house now! You hould have post it. Come-on! And also wan’t to see you while carrying your shopping bags uphill!
Life in a pandemic is much more difficult. I admire you for your courage to move to Prague in September. The situation throughout Europe is difficult, and lockdown affects most countries. That’s why you probably miss Vienna. You were in this city while parties and meetings with friends were possible, bars were open. I hope the lockdown will finish soon.
you’re brave! I applaud you for moving during this time – despite the craziness – Prague is absolutely beautiful. I hope the move goes well for you and everyone takes lockdown seriously so it doesn’t last long
We were traveling at the beginning of the pandemic, as things just started closing. We can’t imagine moving . Stay positive and hang in there!
I absolutely loved Prague, and hope to be back there some day! So cool that you found a place atop the mountain, with scenic views and quietude. Look forward to reading more ..
