Melodifestivalen 2020 Running Order Predictions

Yes ladies and gentlemen, Melodifestivalen will finally go live in less than a few weeks now. I’m super excited just like all the fandom out there and I just can’t wait to get some new, high-quality fresh songs from the most viewed national selection of the season.

Last week the running order was published and people are already trying to figure out who could be this year’s winner and which songs might have good potential. So let’s do some old classy running order analysis:

Semi-final 1: Linköping – February 1st
1. The Mamas — “Move”
2. Suzi P — “Moves”
3. Robin Bengtsson — “Take a Chance”
4. Malou Prytz — “Ballerina”
5. OVÖ — “Inga problem”
6. Sonja Aldén — “Sluta aldrig gå”
7. Felix Sandman — “Boys with Emotions”

For the 1st Semifinal in Linkoping, I think it’s a safe bet for Felix, he did really well a few years ago and we already know that the 7th place in the semifinal is always reserved for the ‘high potential’ songs. Though it wasn’t always the case. Many of the 7th position songs failed to qualify to the final. But still, I would say that Felix and probably either Malou or Suzi P (new comer) will probably go straight to the final.

I have mixed feelings about Robin’s song as he stated that his new song will be something “completely different” from what we’ve seen from him already. Something simple and no so sophisticated as his previous Mello song. So might this be only an “Andra Chansen” then? We’ll have to wait and see.

Semi-final 2: Gothenburg – February 8th
1. Klara Hammarström — “Nobody”
2. Thorsten Flinck — “Miraklernas tid”
3. Dotter — “Bulletproof”
4. Méndez feat. Alvaro Estrella — “Vamos amigos”
5. Linda Bengtzing — “Alla mina sorger”
6. Paul Rey — “Talking in My Sleep”
7. Anna Bergendahl — “Kingdom Come”

This year’s Gothenburg’s Semifinal seems to be REALLY strong with some famous names competing. We have Dotter who’s probably coming back for some revenge after she failed to qualify a few years ago. Let’s hope “Bulletproof” will be something coolish. We have Mendez and Alvaro that most certainly will deliver a BOP that we’ll play the whole year. Anna Bergendahl makes another return, might this be for a new victory?

There’s also a lot of hype about Paul Rey and Klara who only released two songs so far. One of them “You should know me better” that I’m listening almost daily, so I do hope her Mello song will be something WoW. Hard to predict who will qualify in this semifinal but if I had to do a wild guess, I would say Klara and Anna to the Final, Mendez and Dotter to the Second Round.

Semi-final 3: Luleå – February 15th
1. Mariette — “Shout It Out”
2. Albin Johnsén — “Livet borjar nu”
3. Drängarna — “Piga och dräng”
4. Amanda Aasa — “Late”
5. Anis Don Demina — “Vem är som oss”
6. Faith Kakembo — “Crying Rivers”
7. Mohombi — “Winners”

In the third semifinal we have Mohombi, who’s making a comeback with a super ambitious song title and already placed on the 7th position. Safe to say that he is already a finalist? My snowflake queen Mariette is making a comeback and I do really hope that “Shout it out” will be something as cool or even better as “Don’t stop believing”.

So I suppose that Marriette and Mohombi will be the finalists here and maybe Faith and Amanda will go to the second chance round? Or it might be quite the opposite. How exciting! 😀

Semi-final 4: Malmö – February 22nd
1. Frida Öhrn — “We Are One”
2. William Strid — “Molnljus”
3. Nanne Grönvall — “Carpool Karaoke”
4. Victor Crone — “Troubled Waters”
5. Ellen Benediktson & Simon Peyron — “Surface”
6. Jakob Karlberg — “Om du tror att jag saknar dig”
7. Hanna Ferm — “Brave”

After seeing Hanna Ferm perform last year, I was really hoping that she will make a comeback but this time as a solo artist, and I’m super freakin’ happy that she actually did! I have a great feeling about “Brave” and If it’s a good song, I do hope that Hanna will be the next female artist representing Sweden after soooo many years.

Ellen Benediktson finally makes the third comeback. i enjoyed her previous songs a lot but this time I’m really curious how she will do with a male partner besides her. I have a good feeling about it. As for Victor Crone, I’m not a huge fan of his vocal abilities but I’m happy to see that Sweden is appreciating him much more after getting the chance to represent another country at ESC.

These were my vague assumptions of how things could go in a few weeks. I’m super excited and for the first time ever I will be attending Melodifestivalen LIVE from Gothenburg. I’m super ready to witness this blood bath semifinal and I just can’t wait to write LIVE about it.
