As usual, things went by very fast. The last week in Romania has arrived, said goodbye to almost everyone and left everything behind in one cold September night. Funny enough, I usually get sick after one week more or less when I move abroad, but this time I was “lucky” enough to catch a tragic cold while still in Romania. So you can already imagine how my first week in Vienna was. To picture it, imagine me running to gather documents, open bank accounts and other bureaucracy stuff while being in a coma. Thankfully, after a few days passed by, I started feeling better and now I’m waiting to start my new fresh job.
Although I didn’t get to experience Vienna properly, it really feels amazing to be back here. Quite challenging given my German skills but I will never let this scare me, it’s just a random language, right? (crying). I also get to enjoy a really nice view of Vienna since my room is situated on the 7th floor of a huge building, thankfully it is quite equipped and I don’t need to use the stairs, but I will try to use them from time to time since I want that summer 2020 body. Just for the record, I won’t be getting that Summer 2020 body because Vienna is freaking expensive, even though it is! I want to start fresh, live healthy and enjoy this modern country. It’s a bit too early to make travelling plans, but since I’m quite close to countries I never visited before, I might do a quick travelling session right before this year ends.
First day at my job – Scene 1, Act 3
Did you ever had the impression that sometimes you’re playing the main character of a really dramatic comedy? Well yeah, I still do. Since I moved here lots of silly things happened, for example a few days ago I almost fought with a tough lady to grab the last piece of cheese (she won), while going to work on my very first day I was listening to music and for some reason I totally forgot to stop it and left the phone in my pocket with the headphones still on. I don’t know what and how I moved but in the middle of the meeting with all the FRA people and ALL my new colleagues Taylor Swift started singing “Me-e-e, ooh-ooh-ooh-ooh I’m the only one of me Baby, that’s the fun of me Eeh-eeh-eeh, ooh-ooh-ooh-ooh”. So yeah, THAT actually happened. Thankfully, I moved quickly and not everyone managed to hear it, but all the people that sat next to me did. Overall, it was a funny moment so I don’t quite regret it but damn I need to be more careful with my music.
I’m really happy that I had the chance to meet some amazing people in the past few days, it felt weird and also great to be in a room filled up with people from all over the world that have decent and almost perfect English skills, unlike my previous job where my boss barely made the difference between a monkey and a gorilla (or even had any idea how to spell it). I’m sure it will be a challenging and a rewarding experience and I’m really eager to see what the next months will bring. Stay tuned for more! 🙂
And since it happened, here’s the famous song.
