Selecția Națională 2019: Romania reveals the Semifinalists!

We’re about the enter the full national finals season mode with Albania picking the first song of Eurovision 2019 last night. Meanwhile, Romania revealed the names of the 24 lucky competitors that will fight for the right to represent the country at the forthcoming Eurovision Song Contest in Tel Aviv.

Who’s in it?

Lots of famous names (which is not necessarily a good thing, to be explained later) and new names as well, with lots of great surprises. We also have two former winners that want to taste the victory again, Dan Bittman who represented the country in 1994 and Nicola who represented us in 2003. Dan Bittman is coming back with a song in Romanian called “Pierd” which was not published yet and Nicola, well, here comes the disappointment, she’s coming back with a really average song that was written by those international amateurs that were previously mentioned in one of my posts. Ah yes, and how could I forget, the infamous Mihai Traistariu is coming again *pretends to act surprised* with a song composed by the same people who composed Nicola’s song.

We only know a few of the songs that were selected to compete in the National Final while the majority of them are expected to be revealed in early January 2019. I’m also quite happy that one of the Semifinals will be held in Arad, my hometown. I suppose I’ll be attending it and I just can’t wait to see how everything is organized. Meanwhile, check the full list of participants and some of the songs that were revealed. My favorite so far is Ester Peony, an unknown artist (yet) but with a really good song!
