Melodifestivalen 2017: First Impressions

Melodifestivalen participants were revealed last week and I’m happy to say that next year’s event will be huge because of two main reasons: Mr. Bjorkman makes sure to make it better and better every year aaand we have some new shocking returnings (Loreen & Charlotte Perelli). Both Loreen and Charlotte won Eurovision in the past but do they intend to do it again? Charlotte Perelli will be competing with a song in swedish…which obviously can’t be Eurovision material and that was stated by herself in an interview given to ESCtoday.com. She also tried to make a comeback in 2012 with a song in english but she didn’t even manage to qualify in the Melfest Final. Loreen on the other hand has a song in english entitled ‘Statements’. Sounds promising and to be honest I’m expecting a song that is in the style of her latest songs released in the past two years. She also said that she has an album coming next year so maybe this Melodifestivalen participation is more to make a boost in her career rather than making it for another Eurovision win?

I have a weird feeling that next year’s winner will be a complete surprise. Also, I’m happy to see other former melfest participants making a comeback: Wiktoria (she was one of my favorites this year), Lisa Ajax (also one of my previous favorites and this gurl can surely sing), Ace Wilder (if next year isn’t her year then it’s just crazy, she is amazing, let her win, Sweden!), Dinah Nah (loved her 2015 song), Boris Rene (he had an average song but given the fact who is behind his song next year…I’m sure he will ace it), Mariette (she was my supreme winner in 2015…but yeah…Mans won instead), Robin Bengtsson (he had an average song this year but maybe 2017 will be better for him?), Krista (welll she said it herself that she wants an international career…and by international I mean swedish…no wonder why she sings in Swedish, there’s no question if she wants to win it, though I loved her entry this year), Jon Henrik (he wasn’t my favorite in 2015 and I’m also not a big fan of his musical genre buuut who knows…Swedish people love him apparently so 2017 might be his year).

The competition next year will be super strong and I just can’t wait for the madness to begin. To make it even better I actually found someone during my Erasmus that is just as crazy obsessed with Sweden and Melfest as I am and I’m happy that we can comment Melfest together next year. Long Live Sweden & Melfest! 😊🎶✌
